Installation Instructions:
Flush-Mount Axles:
  • db-1001D - HD Deuce
    1. Jack up the bike just far enough to take the pressure off of the front wheel.

    2. Remove the stock axle nut, lockwasher, and washer.

    3. Loosen the slider cap nuts and pull the stock axle free by pulling toward the non-threaded end of the axle. Take note of where spacers,etc come out. They go back in the same order.

    4. Install the splined cap on the left fork leg making sure the tapers are aligned properly per the "installation Instructions for the knurled cap".

    5. Coat the Dakota Billet Axle with Anti-Seize Lubricant. Permatex makes a good one but any brand will work. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.

    6. Apply a little blue loctite to the axle threads & slide the new axle into the wheel from the right side and torque. Use a Torque wrench. Don't Guess!!

    7. Harley's recommended torque value for their axle is 50 ft-lbs or 68 Nm. We however, suggest 45 ft-lbs. to avoid twisting the splined cap. Use a torque wrench. Don't guess here.

    8. Slide the cap over the hex head on the axle on the right side slider and tighten the nuts on the cap paying special attention to the orientation of the cap.

    9. The allen head torque value per HD is 5-11 ft-lbs or 7-15 Nm. The allen heads are 5mm.

    10. Wipe off oil, grease, anti-seize, fingerprints, etc.

    11. Step back and admire the only and original flush mount Deuce axle on the planet!!!

    • db-1001D-PM Deuce lowers with Late model PM wheels

      • db-1007 - 1" 2000 & later FLH

        5. Remove the puller.

        6. Coat the Dakota Billet Axle with Anti-Seize Lubricant. Permatex makes a good one but any brand will work. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.

        7. Apply a little blue loctite to the axle threads & slide the new axle into the wheel from the right side and torque. Using a deep socket, tighten axle. Use a Torque wrench. Don't Guess!!

        8. Harley's recommended torque value for their axle is 50 ft-lbs or 68 Nm. Use a torque wrench. Don't guess here.

        9. Slide the cap over the hex head on the axle on the right side slider and tighten the nuts on the cap paying special attention to the orientation of the cap.

        10. The Hex Nut torque value per HD is 5-11 ft-lbs or 7-15 Nm.

        11. Wipe off oil, grease, anti-seize, fingerprints, etc.

        11. Step back and admire the best, US made, flush mount axle on the planet!!!
      • db-1008 - Mid glide Redneck or Covington with deuce lowers.

      • db-1009 - Perewitz Mid Glide Trees with 39mm Sliders
        1. Jack up the bike just far enough to take the pressure off of the front wheel.

      4. Install the splined cap on the left fork leg making sure the tapers are aligned properly.

      5. Remove protective LPS anticorrosion coating if used.

      6. Coat the dakota billet axle with ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT. Permatex makes a good one but any brand will work. This is critical, don't skip this step.

      7. Apply a little blue loctite to the axle threads & slide the new axle into the wheel from the right side and torque. Use a Torque wrench. Don't Guess!!
